Big Screen Opera
Opera Live from the Royal Opera House
La Traviata: Verdi’s best-loved opera returns to the Big Screen this summer for a drama of passion, love and sacrifice. La Traviata’s story of a beautiful Parisian courtesan prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for love is told through thrilling ensembles and choruses, impassioned duets and stunningly beautiful lyrical arias – and performed by a wonderful young cast and the great Royal Opera Chorus and Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. Join us on 4 July on Lyric Square for an evening of visual and musical beauty.
Turandot: Go beyond the famous aria ‘Nessun dorma’ in The Royal Opera’s famously spectacular production of Puccini’s final masterpiece, which will transport you to legendary China in all its pageantry and savagery, with disguised identities, puzzles and ritual executions. Princess Turandot subjects her suitors to cryptic riddles only to execute them when they fail to answer correctly. Will our hero Calaf solve the riddles and win the Princess? Come and find out on 14 July at Lyric Square’s Big Screen.
