The Greatest Showman provides a fitting finale to the HammersmithLondon Summer Festival
A fabulously fun sing-along to box office smash The Greatest Showman wrapped up two months of live entertainment and sport in Lyric Square.
The HammersmithLondon Festival came to a fitting finale on Friday night, as a huge crowd enjoyed an unforgettable few hours belting out all the huge tunes from the hit Hollywood musical.
The Greatest Showman, with an all-star cast including Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron, celebrates the birth of show business and tells the tale of the visionary P.T Barnum. The film has a whole host of fantastic songs – including the film’s breakout hit “This Is Me” – and a huge crowd sang their hearts out as the words were displayed on the bottom of the Big Screen at Lyric Square.
A brief sharp shower didn’t dampen the spirits as friends, families and work colleagues enjoyed a wonderful evening’s entertainment.
“We’re having a great time, I love this film so much and the songs are fantastic,” said one very happy local employee who was enjoying the musical with a group of friends.
The real stars of the evening, however, were the children, who celebrated the start of the school summer holidays by singing and dancing along to the infectious tunes. The HammersmithLondon team whipped up the atmosphere, dishing out free ice creams and goody bags while handing out the microphone for some excellent solo performances.
As the film drew to a close, the kids gathered down the front for an impromptu dance routine, linking arms and enjoying the final moments of a memorable evening.
The summer festival organised by the HammersmithLondon Business Improvement District (BID) drew thousands of people to Lyric Square over the past two months, as a whole host of free events, screenings and classes were enjoyed.
