Magnificent Murray delights Lyric Square crowds during second Wimbledon win
Rapturous applause engulfed Lyric Square on Sunday afternoon as a crowd of over 1,000 celebrated Andy Murray being crowned Wimbledon champion for the second time in four years.
Tennis fans poured into Hammersmith to watch the World Number 2 romp to victory against Milos Raonic live on the big screen as part of the HammersmithLondon Summer Festival.
The crowds made good use of the HammersmithLondon deckchairs, benches and artificial turf as they soaked up the atmosphere during an unforgettable afternoon. Spectators also had the chance to win prizes, including goodie bags and a pair of top of the range glasses courtesy of festival sponsors, Specsavers.
Now in its ninth year, the HammersmithLondon Summer Festival delivers an exciting programme of cultural events and activities designed to invigorate the town centre for workers, residents and visitors. This includes Wimbledon coverage, live streaming of the Opera from the Royal Opera House, free theatre performances, al fresco yoga sessions and much more.
