Saturday 7 October 2017: Celebrating Hammersmith’s Black History

We will be exploring the rich heritage of black history in Hammersmith with a tour of areas of contribution and achievement from ethnic communities in the area. Hammersmith is home to the first legal case against slavery in British legal history and was the home of a personal hero of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. The tour through Brook Green, Edith Road and the Hammersmith Town Hall will celebrate the array of prominent residents and where they lived and performed over the last 200 years.

Meet: Hammersmith tube station (by the statue), 11am

Refreshments will be provided following the walk at the Dartmouth Castle.
